Fight Fit is good for your health – FACT!
We KNOW that Fight Fit classes are good for you and now experts have confirmed it! New research shows that exercising in a group lowers stress and improves wellbeing.
According to a study published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association, working out in a group lowers stress by 26 per cent and significantly improves quality of life.
Reseachers also found that those who exercise individually put in more effort but experienced no significant changes in their stress level and a limited improvement to quality of life.
Dayna Yorks, lead researcher on the study, says: “The communal benefits of coming together with friends and colleagues and doing something difficult, while encouraging one another, pays dividends beyond exercising alone.”
In a 12-week study, particpants were allowed to select an exercise programme, either in groups or individuals.
The group exercise teams spent 30 minutes at least once a week completing a core strengthening and fitness training programme and saw significant improvements in all three categories.
Improvements in mental health saw a 12.6 per cent increase, physical health 24.8 per cent and emotional health saw a 26.2 per cent increase.
